Rebuttal to Ebone

Though I agree that child actors should be more disciplines so they can create a positive impact to their watchers, but it is not really their fault for being curious as a human is. I found these quotes off of Ebone’s blog.

The things that children/teenagers see on TV influences and affects their behavior in real life. For instance, if a child admires someone like Batman and he/she sees Batman doing bad things, they are going to think it's okay because their role model is doing it and do it themselves. “

Even though I agree that what Miley Cyrus did was terrible and unforgettable, the blame should not be all on her. She is just a human being, and she is just as curious as the rest of us. I am not really surprised that she would have enough curiosity to go ahead and smoke something illegal. She just wants to have fun like the rest of us. Smoking a bong is definitely unforgivable, but there are plenty of worse crimes out in the world that people have absolutely no idea about. A lot of people just like to hate on whatever they can hate on. “They just feel more powerful when they put someone down, which is also disgraceful.

"If a child actor does something wrong parents are going to freak out and completely flip out about it to protect their children. Once again, Miley Cyrus got into more trouble with her new video where she is seen rolling around in a bed in her underwear.”

I believe that Miley Cyrus should have every right to wear whatever she wants. It is not like she is going to change how she wants to live her life just because a bunch of angry and overprotective parents want their children to live an innocent life. In the end, no child will ever live a life without knowing about natural things like sex. They may seem dirty, but it is here for a reason, to create new life. It is not like Miley Cyrus is going to spend her whole life looking and dressing like a child. She should be able to live and enjoy her blessed life without the nagging of unsatisfied parents.

Are online social networks (Facebook, etc.) overall more harmful or more beneficial to society?

I think that social networks like Facebook are more harmful than beneficial because of how addicting and time wasting it is. In the United States, 116 hundred  million people have a Facebook out of the estimated 309 hundred million people total. That is more than a third of the whole population of the United States.

    Nearly every student that I have known that has a Facebook admits to browsing on the site for an unexpectedly long amount of time. Most of them say that they will just randomly log into Facebook for just about no reason, except that they are bored. A lot of them even said that they spend a lot of time on Facebook doing absolutely unnecessary things like reading posts written by other people that has nothing to do with them. Even some of my teachers have admitted to spending too much time on Facebook. A teacher of mine in eighth grade called it a time vacuum, and it is definitely true. Minutes pass by unnoticed when on such an addictive site.
    I think that Facebook’s user friendly format really attracts a lot of users. I have heard plenty of people who say social networks like Youtube and Facebook have destroyed their academic life, and I am definitely one of them. After watching a video, another interesting video is conveniently sitting on the right. I have probably watched atleast a few thousand hours of nature videos, shows, and even movies. It is definitely educational, but probably not the most important priority when i have school work to do.
    I admit that Facebook and Youtube helps me once in a while when i need to communicate with a friend or watch a video demonstration. Whenever i forget to write down a homework assignment or forget the instructions for it, Facebook easily connects me live feedback, but this will usually leave me talking about stuff that has nothing to do with the school work due the next day. I think that Facebook has a lot of unnecessary things like games and groups that are just plain distractions for someone who is trying to just get in, get an answers, and leave.
    In the end, Facebook may connect friends together, but it also distracts them to the point that it is out of hand.

Rebuttal for Con Abortion with Alex Noble

    In this post, we are rebutting this act of discrimination against aborting handicapped babies with Downs Syndrome.  Our opening statement can be found here and the pro sides opening statement is here.

1 in 800 babies are born with Down Syndrome, and 1 to 4000 males/1 to 8000 females are diagnosed with X syndrome; It is unfair to bring a child into the world who will face a lifetime of handicap-ability.

    In this quote, the pro side is saying that babies that are disabled shouldn't deserve a chance to live and they should be aborted. The Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 gives protection to people with disabilities equal rights. People with Downs Syndrome are still humans and should not be discriminated or terminated before they have the mere chance of living and enjoying the wonderful cycle of life.

    73% mothers who have abortions do so because their finances would not be able to support another human being, while 38% say that their baby would interfere greatly with their studies or pursuit of their career.  If the mother is unable of providing for her incoming infant then it should be her choice on whether or not to keep the child.

    When the pro side said this,  it seemed that they suggested that abortion should be used as a birth control. When people use abortion as birth control it is very costly to the family finances and the couple`s mental health. This idea of a backup plan to save the couple from their mistake decreases a couple’s carefulness. The couple wouldn’t think more thoughtfully upon using any protection, and would carelessly have sex.
